Amidst the ongoing uncertainty regarding the three-tier Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh, a big statement from Panchayati Raj Minister and SubhaSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar has come to light. Rajbhar told that by when will the Panchayat elections be conducted in the state. He has also made it clear that the High Court order will be followed and there will be no hindrance in the election process.
Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar said that Gram Panchayat, Area Panchayat and District Panchayat elections in the state will be conducted under any circumstances by July 2026. Rajbhar said that the process of Panchayat elections in the year 2021 was completed in the month of July. This time too, Panchayat elections will be completed by July. Both the state government and the Election Commission are ready for this.
When will Panchayat elections be held in UP?
Om Prakash Rajbhar said that preparations for holding Panchayat elections are progressing rapidly. Ballot papers have also been printed in the districts for the elections. The voter list will also be published by April 15. A commission is to be formed to decide OBC reservation in elections. This process will also be completed soon, after which the reservation process will be finalized.
OBC reservation in Panchayat elections will be decided on the basis of 2011 census only. No new calculations will be conducted at present. The election schedule will be announced after receiving the report of the OBC Commission.
Rajbhar said that even though the tenures of village heads, block heads, district panchayat members and district panchayat presidents are ending at different times, no one’s tenure will be extended beyond July 2026. Election programs are being decided keeping in mind the election time limit.
Let us tell you that Allahabad High Court has taken a strict stance regarding the three-tier elections. The court has asked the State Election Commission whether it is possible to hold elections till May 26 after the publication of the voter list on April 15 or not. The court has filed an affidavit from the Election Commission regarding this and sought a reply.
