UP Politics: After Ghosi, Faridpur, now by-election will be held on one more assembly seat! BJP had won in 2022

After Ghosi in Mau, Faridpur in Bareilly, another seat has become vacant in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Samajwadi Party leader Vijay Singh Gond, who became MLA from Duddhi Assembly seat (reserved) of Sonbhadra in the year 2022, died on Thursday, January 8, 2026. Till now there was talk of by-elections on two assembly seats in UP, now a third seat has also been added. Out of this, SP MLA from Ghosi seat Late. The name of Sudhakar Singh’s son Sujit Singh has also been announced as a candidate.

Talking about Duddhi seat, this assembly constituency came into existence in the year 1962. In 2022, Ramdular Gaur of Bharatiya Janata Party won this seat by defeating Vijay Singh Gond of SP by 6 thousand 297 votes.

By-elections were also held on Duddhi seat in 2024.

However, after Ramdular Gond was disqualified as MLA, by-elections were held on this seat in the year 2024.

Then Vijay Singh Gond defeated BJP’s K Shravan Kumar by 3 thousand 208 votes. In the 2017 elections, this seat went to Congress in SP-Congress alliance and Anil Kumar Singh got 46 thousand 90 votes. However, Apna Dal SK Hariram had won this seat in that election. In the 2017 elections, Vijay Singh Gond contested the election on Bahujan Samaj Party ticket and lost by 1085 votes. Duddhi Lok Sabha seat comes under Robertsganj Lok Sabha seat.

SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed grief over Gond’s demise. Akhilesh wrote on social media site X that the death of SP MLA Vijay Singh Gaur from Duddhi is very sad. May his soul rest in peace. Deepest condolences to the bereaved family. Heartfelt tribute!
