The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of visibility falling to zero in many districts. In terms of pollution, many cities of UP have become more polluted than Delhi.
Where will the havoc of fog be seen in UP?
On December 12, dense fog is expected in Bareilly, Rampur, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Sitapur, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Basti, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur and Shravasti. Visibility in these cities will be around zero in the morning and there will be some relief as the day progresses. Westerly winds in the evening will increase the melting and make the weather more harsh. Keeping this in mind, IMD has issued a yellow alert for many districts.
There is a possibility of light to moderate fog in the districts of Purvanchal like Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Mirzapur, Ballia and Mau. Visibility in these areas can range from 500 to 700 meters. The maximum temperature here can go up to 27 degrees and the minimum can go up to 8 degrees Celsius.
Temperature fluctuations in Lucknow and Noida
Today the minimum temperature in Lucknow will increase by about 2 degrees Celsius and light fog will be seen in the morning. The minimum temperature in the capital today is expected to be 11 degrees and maximum 26 degrees. There is no possibility of major change in temperature even on 13th December.
Melting and fog together will increase problems in Noida in the morning and night. The minimum temperature here will be around 10 and maximum 25 degrees Celsius, while the traffic speed will also be affected due to fog. According to meteorologists, a weak western disturbance will be active from December 13, due to which the temperature may increase by 3 to 4 degrees. There is no possibility of any significant change in the weather in the next 26 hours.
AQI crosses 300 in UP!
With winter, pollution in UP has also reached dangerous levels and many cities have overtaken Delhi in AQI. Delhi’s AQI is 307 ‘very poor’, but Ghaziabad’s 343, Noida’s 322 and Meerut’s 342, making it more polluted. The average AQI of Lucknow also remains in the ‘poor’ category of 237.
AQI was recorded at 366 in Loni, Ghaziabad, 319 in Vasundhara and 284 in Indirapuram. AQI has reached 308 in Sector 125 of Noida and 330 in Sector 116. The air in Knowledge Park of Greater Noida is also in ‘very poor’ category. The AQI of Lalbagh, Talkatora and Gomtinagar areas in Lucknow remains above 200, where PM2.5 is the main pollutant.
CPCB and IMD’s caution guidelines
Sensitive groups like children, elderly and asthma patients should stay at home and use N95 masks when going out. All people should avoid outdoor exercise and use humidifiers at home. While driving in fog, keep fog lights on and keep the vehicle speed less than 40 km per hour.
