Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct prelims (prelims) of Civil Services on Sunday, 25 May. Candidates who have registered for this exam can now download their e-admit card from UPSC’s official website-upsconline.gov.in. All the candidates taking the exam will be required to bring with them printed copy of e-admit card and a valid photo identity card (eg Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License etc.). Without these two documents, admission will not be given to the examination center. UPSC has advised all the students to read all the instructions given on the admit card carefully so that there is no problem on the day of the examination.
Examination will be held in two innings
Let us tell you that the exam will be in two shifts-
Paper 1 (General Studies): 9:30 am to 11:30 am
Paper 2 (CSAT): 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm
What is prelims
UPSC Preliminary Examination (Prelims) is a type of screening i.e. retrenchment examination. The numbers found in it are not added to the last merit list. This means that the purpose of prelims is only to decide which candidates are eligible to give main examinations. Only those candidates who pass prelims, will be able to sit in the main examination ahead. In the end, the rank that is made, only the main examination and interview numbers are added, not prelims.
Questions are asked in this way, know the full pattern
In the preliminary examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), there are two objective (MCQ based) paper, each of which is of 200 marks. The first paper is General Studies Paper-I, in which topics related to history, geography, politics, economy, science and technology as well as questions related to current developments are asked. The second paper is CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test), which is also known as General Studies Paper-II. In this, the ability of candidates to understand, logical thinking, mathematical skills and analytical abilities is examined.
The main exam will be done on this date
Both papers are in Hindi and English language and every paper gets two hours time. The special thing is that CSAT paper is only qualified, that is, it is necessary to pass in this paper, but its marks are not added to merit. It is mandatory for the candidate to bring at least 33% marks (66 marks) to pass CSAT. Let us tell you that the main exam is likely to start from August 22.
