The success story of Deepesh Kumari, resident of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, is not just the story of becoming an IAS, but it is the story of her father’s struggle, sacrifice and faith. Who kept his children’s dreams alive by selling pakodas and namkeen for 25 years.

Deepesh’s father Govind Kumar used to go out every morning with his cart. Be it sunshine or rain, festival or ordinary day, he never stepped back from work. It was not easy to earn money for a family of seven. The house was small, the facilities were limited, but the children’s dreams for the future were very big. Govind Kumar believed that if he did not have much money to give, he could definitely give education to his children.

There came many times in the house when there was shortage of money. The whole family lived in a small room. There was no separate place to study for the children, but the trust and encouragement of their parents was their biggest strength. Deepesh has seen since childhood that hard work never goes waste.

ahead in education since childhood

Deepesh Kumari is the eldest among her five siblings. She started understanding the responsibilities of the house since childhood. Despite this his studies never stopped. He studied school from Shishu Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Bharatpur. He scored 98 percent marks in the 10th exam and by scoring 89 percent marks in the 12th exam, he proved that no matter what the circumstances are, if the mind is strong, there is a way out.

From engineering to IIT

After school, Deepesh did B.Tech in Civil Engineering from MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur. This was a proud moment for the family, but Deepesh did not stop here. He dreamed of studying further and did MTech from IIT Bombay. This was the greatest happiness for the father, who saw his daughter reach the biggest institute of the country with the earnings of pakodas.

After MTech, Deepesh also worked in a private company. For the first time, someone in the family got a good job. The condition of the house started improving somewhat. But something else was going on in Deepesh’s mind.

Left the job and chose the difficult path

Deepesh’s dream was to serve the country. With this thinking, he decided to prepare for UPSC Civil Services Examination. This decision was not easy. Leaving the job, going to Delhi to prepare and becoming a burden on the family again, all this was very difficult for him emotionally. But father Govind Kumar did not stop his daughter.

First defeat, then strong comeback

In the year 2020, Deepesh took the UPSC exam for the first time, but did not get success. It was definitely a shock, but not a breaking one. She questioned herself, improved her preparation and got busy again. I stayed and studied in Delhi with the money I had saved from my job.

hard work pays off

The year 2021 became the biggest year of Deepesh’s life. He passed the UPSC exam in the second attempt and secured All India 93rd rank. Not only this, he got fourth rank in the country in EWS category.
