UPSC Toppers List: The country’s most prestigious service, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final results of Civil Services Examination 2025. After a year’s rigorous penance, the written examination held in the scorching heat of August and the nerve-wracking interviews that continued till February, the list of success has finally come out. This time, Anuj Agnihotri of Uttar Pradesh has proved his mettle by securing first place in the country. In this race of dreams of thousands of youth, only 958 candidates were successful in crossing the last hurdle. This result is not only the victory of these candidates, but is also a story of their patience and unwavering determination.
Anuj Agnihotri became number-1
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday uploaded the result of Civil Services Examination 2025 on its official website. Anuj Agnihotri has topped the results of this year’s examination by securing All India Rank (AIR 1). After her, Rajeshwari Suve M stood second, while Akansh Dhull stood third. The Commission has clarified that this time a total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment. These candidates will now play an important role in the policy making and administration of the country.

How was the selection process and seats this time?
UPSC selects the best minds of the country every year through three tough stages – Prelims, Mains and Interview. The main examination of 2025 was held in August, after which the interviews of successful candidates ran from December 2025 to February 2026. Out of the selected 958 candidates, 180 have been selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Apart from this, 150 candidates will make the country proud by joining Police Service (IPS) and 55 candidates will join Foreign Service (IFS).
The Commission has distributed the seats following the rules of reservation. Out of 180 posts of IAS, 74 seats are for unreserved (General) category, while 47 seats are allotted for OBC, 28 SC, 13 ST and 18 EWS category. Another important information is that the candidature of 348 candidates has been kept provisional at present, the process of verification of whose documents is still going on.
Appointment and way forward
Selected candidates will be allotted cadre based on their rank and choice. The process of appointment will start soon and necessary instructions for this will be sent by the concerned ministries. After training, these officers will be posted in different parts of the country. UPSC has also said that apart from the main list, a reserve list has also been prepared, so that in case any post remains vacant, it can be filled. After this result, new standards have been set for the students preparing for the examination next year i.e. 2026.
