Us Army Parade: There were two important events in the US on Saturday (14, June). President Donald Trump’s birthday and 250th anniversary of establishment of the US Army. This historic occasion was celebrated with a grand military parade at Washington DC, but a major political dispute arose in the midst of the ceremony when Congress leader Jairam Ramesh claimed that Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir was invited as ‘guest’ in the parade. The White House had to be clarified on this.
Presence of many celebrities including Trump in grand military parade
On the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the US Army, a huge military parade was held at the capital Washington DC. Many high-profile diplomats and military officers including President Donald Trump attended this parade. The parade consisted of over 6,000 American soldiers, more than 150 armored military vehicles and more than 50 fighter aircraft. It is estimated that more than Rs 350 crore was spent on this parade, due to which there is a sharp criticism in the country.
Claims of invitation to Pak Army Chief created a ruckus
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh posted social media and claimed that Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir was called as a special guest in the US military parade. He described this alleged invitation as a diplomat and strategic blow for India. Ramesh said that this is the same general Munir, who made provocative statements before the Pahalgam terror attack. Questioning the intention of America, he said that such a step can affect India-US relations.
White House told claims ‘wrong and misleading’
On Sunday, the White House completely denied these speculations and completely denied it. A senior American official clearly stated, “No foreign military officer was invited to the military parade. This claim is completely wrong.”
Following this clarification from the White House, the BJP accused Jairam Ramesh of spreading lies and being inspired by a hatred of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said that Ramesh put misleading posts under the political agenda without confirming the facts.
