When the tariff was increased on Chinese exports, all US President Donald started bursting on Trump that his decision has set the market on fire. There is a discussion everywhere how much the US has increased the tariff, if we look at the tariff policy of China, then it will be known that Xi Gipanping is still charging 7 % more tariffs than Trump. The US has increased the tariff on Chinese goods to 145 %, while the Chinese tariff on American exports has increased to 151 %.
In early April, tariff war started between the two countries, but till that America was imposing only 10 percent tariffs, while China was charging 67 %. Then when America started increasing the tariff, China also did not lag behind, it put a recipe rice every time. Meaning that he was already charging 57 % more tariffs, in response to which the US had announced only 34 % tariffs i.e. 10 % earlier and 34 % first and even after additional tariffs, America was imposing only 44 percent tariffs.
On April 2, Donald Trump announced tariffs on all countries, with 34 percent additional tariffs on China. China also imposed an additional tariff of 34 % in response. Trump also gave a 24 -hour ultimatum to Jinping to withdraw the additional tariff, but he did not back down. After this, the tariff war between the two started. Now if one puts a tariff, it also puts the same other other, but the thing to understand here is that even after the additional tariff, America is getting less tariff than China. China is increasing the tariff in response to America’s additional tariff, but now he was taking a lot of tariff for years.
Let’s understand who is charging more tariffs-
Before April 2- China used to impose 67 percent tariffs on American goods, while the US used to put 10 % tariffs on Chinese Goods. Trump had mentioned the high tariff of China several times during the presidential election and said that China has been robbing the US economy for decades, so America should match China.
2 April- On April 2, the US celebrated Liberation Day and announced tariff fee to reduce its trade deficit and increase manufacturing. Trump described it as reciperochl tariff on all countries. He said that these countries are already imposing more tariffs than America. However, he said that America will show some pity in this matter and he will apply half of the tariffs as other countries. Till that time, China was imposing 67 % tariff, then Trump announced an additional 34 percent tariff on Chinese goods. In this way, 10+34 = 44 percent tariff was made on China.
After 2 April- Shortly after the announcement of Donald Trump, the White House issued a statement that the US would impose 10 % tariffs on all countries. The statement said that due to the National Emergency arising out of security concerns due to trade deficit, the US would impose 10 % tariffs on all countries, after which the tariff on Chinese goods increased to 10+34+10 = 54 %. However, the US tariff was still less than China’s 67 percent tariff.
4 April- On the tariff of America, China also announced an additional tariff of 34 % after 48 hours as it said that this move of America would affect the Chinese exports. After China’s action, Trump warned all the countries not to retaliate, otherwise they may have to suffer even more. After a tariff of 34 %, the tariff on American goods went over 100 %, while the US was half of it. Tariff on American goods became 67+34 = 101 %, while the US was taking 54 % on Chinese goods.
7 April and 8 April- After the April 4 incident, not only the tariff war broke out between the two, but the entire global market was shaken. Shares of many big companies fell. Despite all this, Trump and Jinping did not back down. Trump warned China that either it should take back 34 % tariff within 24 hours or else an additional 50 % tariff would be imposed from April 9. However, Xi Jinping did not back down, rather he announced that he would fight till the end and he is standing on his stand. He also described America’s tariff policy as blackmailing. After this, Trump increased 50 % tariff according to his threat and the tariff on Chinese goods became 54+50 = 104 %.
9 April- China also announced 50 % on US 50 % tariff and thus put 84 % additional tariffs on 67 %. At the same time, the US increased 104 % tariff to 125 percent.
11 April- The Trump administration said on Friday that the US would impose 145 % tariffs on Chinese goods, including 20 % of 20 % tariffs applied to 20 % Fantanil exports. Now China has said in response to the US 125 % tariff that it will also put 125 % tariff on American goods.
