‘Dragon in the intention of creating military hideouts in Myanmar, Pakistan and Sri Lanka’
According to the report, China is planning to establish military bases of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in countries like Myanmar, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. If this happens, it can become a serious strategic threat to India, because these countries are close to India’s direct maritime and land borders.
It has been told in this report that it is considered part of the String of Pearls strategy, under which China wants to increase its influence in the Indian Ocean. This can adversely affect India’s security situation. According to the report, China is being seen as primary threat in India’s strategic thinking despite cross -border firing and attacks between the forces of India and Pakistan in mid -May 2024.
‘Border dispute still unresolved’
The report by the US Defense Intelligence Agency stated that in late October 2024, India and China agreed to withdraw forces from two disputed areas of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in East Ladakh. However, it reduces the border tension to some extent, but the border dispute is still unsolved.
According to the report, Pakistan is rapidly increasing its nuclear weapons and considers India a threat to its existence.
