American has imposed huge tariffs on many countries, India’s name is also included in this list. Both the countries are continuously talking to reduce the tension created by tariffs, although its result is not visible at the moment. Meanwhile, many American politicians are angry with Trump over the tariffs imposed on India. United States Representative Pramila Jayapal said that we are facing challenges regarding tariffs. These tariffs are hurting India’s economy. They are also hurting American businesses and consumers.

Pramila Jaipal said that just last week I heard about a family-owned company in Washington State, which does business in agricultural products coming from India. He told me that they have been working for 120 years. Now this tariff has become the biggest threat to their business. They are considering either downsizing or offshoring their production to meet the increased costs.

Statement from US Representative Sidney Workman-Dove

US Representative Sydney Worker-Dove also opposed the tariff, saying that the Trump administration has spoiled the relationship which was strengthened by decades of hard work. He said that these tariffs are hurting India economically. Trump’s policies have derailed the top-level meetings of the two countries. Imposing 50% duty is a step to isolate India. He also said that the 25% tariff imposed on India on the import of Russian oil is also not right, while some people in America are trying to make secret deals with Russia."text-align: justify;">New fees for H-1B visa also in controversy

The workers also expressed concern that imposing a fee of $100,000 (about Rs 83 lakh) on H-1B visa would be a blow to those Indian professionals who have given America new heights in the fields of science, technology, medicine and arts.

Is India being pushed away from America?

Worker warned that wrong policies could drive away a strategic partner like India. Countries like China and Russia will take advantage of this. He said that such decisions do not give any Nobel, but rather break the partnership.
