If we talk about suicide drone weapons in Iran’s drone weapons collection, Iran operates at least ten types of loitering or ‘suicide’ drones, which are designed to explode upon impact. These systems can achieve the same accuracy as ballistic missiles, while flying at low altitudes and avoiding radar. Smaller models such as the Shahed 136 contain less than 45 kilograms (100 lb) of explosive. While the lightest platform, Meraz 521, carries only 3 kg, which shows the diversity and adaptability of Iran’s drone collection.
Shahed 149 Gaza
Iran has the Shahed 149 Gaza, a major upgrade in Iranian drone technology. It is considered to be Iran’s largest and most advanced unmanned combat drone (UCAV). Operated by the Iranian Air Force and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), this high-altitude drone weighs more than 3,000 kg. Shahed 149 can fly continuously for 35 hours, reaching a speed of 350 km/h. Has an operational range of approximately 1,000 km.
Shahed 129
One of Iran’s most capable drone systems is the Shahed 129, which is designed for both surveillance and attack roles. It can remain in the air for 24 hours and is considered similar to the American MQ-1 Predator in size and functionality. Its operational flexibility and endurance make it the backbone of Iran’s UAV fleet. The Shahed-129 (Witness) drone is capable of carrying eight bombs or domestically made Sadid missiles simultaneously. It has an operational radius of 1,700 km and a flying altitude of 24,000 feet for precise targeting capability.
Shahed-136 (Geran-2)
This drone, introduced in 2021, is operated by IRGC. It has been designed as a looting, suicide or kamikaze UAV. Its flight range ranges from 1,300 km (800 mi) to 2,500 km (1,550 mi). It can be equipped with a 40 kg (88 lb) warhead and has a flight endurance of approximately 40 minutes. Iran exported thousands of drones to Russia from 2022 to early 2024. Its known variants include the smaller Shahed 131 and the jet-powered Shahed 238, reflecting continued optimization of the platform.
Qods Mohajer 10
Mohajer 10 is one of Iran’s most versatile long-range UAVs. Operational range of approximately 2,000 km, 24-hour endurance and ability to carry up to 300 kg of mixed weapons and electronic equipment. Introduced in 2023, it largely shows Iran’s progress in drone design and mission flexibility. Its external form is similar to the American MQ-9 Reaper and it can fly at an altitude of 7,000 meters.

The Hadid 110, also known as the Dalahu, is designed for suicide missions. Introduced at the Defense Ministry exhibition in 2025, it is meant for tactical strikes against adversaries. It is rocket assisted at launch and powered by mini jet engines, while its delta wing, sharp edge design reduces radar signature. It can reach a cruise speed of 510 km/h, a range of 350 km and a flying altitude of 30,000 feet. The Hadid 110 carries a 30 kg warhead and has a flight endurance of approximately 1 hour. It is manufactured by INA in Iran and is primarily operated domestically.
