America and its Western allies had a heated debate with Russia and China in the United Nations regarding Iran’s nuclear program. This debate took place in the meeting of the 15-member United Nations Security Council, which is being chaired by the US this month. In this meeting, America tried to justify the ongoing war with Iran which it had started about two weeks ago.
During the meeting, Russia and China tried to stop discussion on the committee that monitors the sanctions imposed on Iran. This committee is generally known as the 1737 Committee, but this effort could not be successful in the voting in the Council. Of the total 15 members, 11 countries voted in favor of continuing the discussion, while Russia and China opposed and two countries abstained.
America accused Russia and China
America’s representative to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, accused Russia and China of trying to protect Iran. He said that all the member countries of the United Nations should implement an arms embargo on Iran. Also, transfer and trade of missile technology should be banned and financial resources related to it should also be frozen. In response, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia accused America and its allies of creating unnecessary fear and tension over Iran’s alleged plan to make nuclear weapons.
He said that such claims have not been confirmed in the reports of the International Nuclear Agency. China’s representative in the United Nations, Fu Kang, also criticized America. He said that Washington itself is responsible for Iran’s nuclear crisis. According to him, during negotiations and diplomacy, America used force against Iran, which harmed the peace talks efforts.

US President Donald Trump has called Iran’s nuclear program the main reason for war. He says that it is necessary to stop Iran’s possible nuclear weapons program. Based on this issue, America started military action against Iran, after which the scope of war in the Middle East is continuously increasing.
