Thailand-Cambodia implemented ceasefire

Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to implement ceasefire on Saturday (December 27, 2025). This agreement took place when just a few days ago the tension on the border between the two countries had increased further. At least 100 people from both the countries have died in the conflict that lasted for about 20 days, while lakhs of people left their homes.

Why is there dispute between Thailand and Cambodia?

This conflict between Thailand and Cambodia took place at many places along the 817 km long border. In July this year, the situation on the border had worsened and many people had died in military action. At that time, under the mediation of America and China, both the countries were ready for ceasefire. However, on December 7, both countries accused each other of ceasefire violations, due to which the situation worsened again. This dispute between the two countries is related to the border lines of the colonial era and the condition of the ancient temples present in the border area.
