After the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, widespread protests were seen in Karachi city of Pakistan. According to reports, protesters gathered in large numbers outside the US Consulate and raised slogans against America. The situation became tense during the demonstration. According to the information, both the roads going to and from Mai Kolachi to Sultanabad were blocked. Some protesters reportedly entered the US Consulate complex and vandalized it.
According to the report of Pakistani news channel Sama TV, to control the situation, the police fired tear gas shells and tried to disperse the crowd. Security forces cordoned off the area and additional police forces were deployed. At present the situation remains sensitive and the officials have appealed to the people to maintain peace. Local administration and security agencies are keeping an eye on the developments.
