Uttarakhand BJP has released the first list of candidates for the post of Kshetra Panchayat (Block Head) in 12 districts of the state for the upcoming three -tier panchayat elections. The names of candidates of more than 90 blocks have been announced in this list released by the party’s state general minister Rajendra Bisht.

The party informed that nominations for these blocks will be filed on August 11. After this, voting will be held from 10 am to 3 pm on August 14 and the results will be declared after the counting of votes on the same day. The BJP may soon release the second list.

Major districts and candidates included in the first list

The first list includes the names of candidates for various blocks of various blocks of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Dehradun, Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar.

  • Uttarkashi: Sheetal Gaur from Naugaon, Nishita from Purola, Rajdeep Parmar from Dunda, Mamta from Bhatwadi
  • Chamoli: Yashpal Singh from Narayanbagad, Bhanu Prakash from Tharali, Durga Rawat from Garasain, Vinita Devi from Dasholi, Meena Rawat from Pokhari, Deepika Makhuri from Karnprayag.
  • Rudraprayag: Gajendra Chaudhary from Ukhimath, Bhuvaneshwari Devi from Agastyamuni, Sarita Panwar from Jakholi.
  • Tehri: Manisha Panwar from Pratapnagar, Rajesh Nautiyal from Jakhanidhar, Suman Sajwan from Chamba, Sarita Panwar from Bhilangana, Anchala Khandelwal from Kirtinagar, Deeksha Rana from Narendranagar, Surendra Bhandari from Thauldhar, Sita Rawat from Jaunpur.
  • Dehradun: Sarojini Jawari from Raipur, Manju Negi from Doiwala, Narayan Thakur from Vikasnagar
  • Pauri: Vinod Bhandari from Pauri, Ganesh Kumar Koli from Kot, Geeta Devi from Kaljikhal, Anil Bhandari from Khirsu, Manju Devi from Thalisen, Lata Devi from Pabau.
  • Pithoragarh: Kavita Verma from Kanalichina to Mahiman Kanyal, Pithoragarh (Vishnu).
  • Bageshwar: Bhavna Shahi from Kapkot, Chetna Negi from Chaukhutia.
  • Almora: Meenakshi Arya from Takula, Himanshi Kundu from Hawalbagh.
  • Champawat: Prakash Singh from Pati, Anchala Bora from Champawat.
  • Nainital: Harish Bisht from Bhimtal, Manisha Jantwal from Kotabagh
  • Udhamsingh Nagar: Vikas Sharma from Bajpur, Chandraprabha from Kashipur, Jyoti Grover from Gadarpur

The BJP claims that both young and experienced faces have been placed in the list, as well as representation of women and reserved classes. This election can have a big impact in rural politics of the state, as blocks play an important role in the implementation of development schemes and political equations in the main panchayat system.
