There was a sensation in the entire area after a woman was shot dead late Saturday night in Shivaji Nagar street number 16 of Rishikesh area in Uttarakhand. The deceased is said to be working in a private institution attached to AIIMS Rishikesh. According to the information, a young man reached the woman’s house at around 9.30 pm on Saturday night. As soon as the woman opened the door, the young man took out a pistol from near the lattice and fired at the woman. The woman died on the spot as soon as the bullet hit her. The accused fled from the spot after committing the crime.
Police started investigation
As soon as information about the incident was received, Kotwali Rishikesh Police, forensic team and senior officers reached the spot. Police have sealed the entire area and started investigation. The footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby is being scrutinized so that clues related to the movement and identity of the accused can be found. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused youth is a resident of Laksar area. Many police teams are continuously raiding in search of him.
Claim of early arrest of the accused
Regarding the matter, Dehradun SP Jaya Baluni said, “The incident is very serious. The accused has been identified and will be arrested soon. The police is investigating all aspects thoroughly. Additional police force has been deployed in the area.”

At the same time, local people have raised questions on the functioning of the police regarding security arrangements and tenant verification campaign in the area. He says that if verification and monitoring had been done in time, such incidents could have been prevented.
