Good news has emerged for the youth preparing for government jobs in Odisha. Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released the official notification of Assistant Agriculture Officer i.e. AAO Recruitment 2026. This notification has been issued on 31 December 2025. Through this recruitment, a total of 118 Group-B posts will be filled in the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department of the state. The special thing is that out of these posts, 40 posts have been reserved for women, due to which women candidates will also get a big opportunity.
According to the information given by the Commission, interested and eligible candidates will be able to apply online from January 10, 2026. The last date for application has been fixed as 30 January 2026. Candidates can complete the application process by visiting the official website of OPSC. All the necessary information related to recruitment, such as eligibility, application process and selection rules, has been made available on the website of the Commission.
The post of Assistant Agriculture Officer is special for those youth who have studied agriculture or horticulture and want to go into government service and work with farmers. The officers selected on this post work to provide information about new technology, crop improvement and government schemes to the farmers. Who can apply
Candidates applying for the post of AAO must have a degree in Graduation in Agriculture i.e. B.Sc. Agriculture or Bachelor in Horticulture i.e. B.Sc. Horticulture from a recognized university or institute. The Commission has made it clear that apart from this, no other degree will be considered valid for this post. That means only those candidates can apply who have done graduation in agriculture or horticulture subject.
Along with this, it is necessary for the candidate to have knowledge of Oriya language. The applying candidate should be able to read, write and speak Oriya. Four criteria related to Oriya language have been given in the notification, fulfillment of any one of which is mandatory. Apart from this, it is also necessary for the candidate to be an Indian citizen.

The application fee for Assistant Agriculture Officer Recruitment 2026 has also been fixed. General, OBC and SEBC category candidates will have to deposit an application fee of Rs 700. However, while giving relief from the Commission, it has also been told that this fee will be refunded to the candidates who will appear in both the papers of the written examination.
Whereas Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and physically handicapped candidates have been given complete exemption in application fee. No fee will be charged from the candidates of these categories, but the system of refund of fee will not be applicable in their case.
How much salary will you get?
Salary is the biggest attraction in a government job and the candidates selected on this post will be given a good salary. Selected candidates will be appointed under Odisha Revised Pay Scale Rules 2017. The post of Assistant Agriculture Officer comes in Level-10, Cell-1.
The starting basic salary for this post will be around Rs 44,900 per month. This salary has been fixed as per the earlier pay scale of Rs 9,300 to Rs 34,800 and grade pay of Rs 4,600. Apart from this, dearness allowance and other allowances received from time to time by the state government will also be added to the salary. In this way the total monthly income can be even better.
