ICC does not want handshake drama
According to news agency PTI, ICC has requested BCCI to drop the policy of not shaking hands with Pakistani players.
According to PTI, a BCCI source said, “Nothing has been said to the players yet, but BCCI has given clear instructions to its manager Anand Datar. Now if the Indian players do not shake hands with the Pakistan team, then the match referee will have to be informed about this in advance. We know that the ICC does not want politics in junior cricket in any way. Therefore, it is a matter of both bad image and public sentiment.”
This handshake controversy started in Asia Cup 2025, after that the Indian team did not shake hands with Pakistani players in Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 and Men’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup also. India Under-19 team manager Anand Datar and head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar will have to take their decision before the match.
