India vs england second test: Former India fast bowler Varun Aaron has criticized the strategy under which England have used their bowlers in the ongoing Test match in Edgbaston. Aaron said that if India bowls accurately, England could be in trouble.
On Jio Hotstar, Aaron said, “England’s bowling shows a lack of quality plan. To create pressure you need a strong field but, England lose easy singles from the beginning. This makes the batsman set easily on the crease.”
Aaron said, “You get wickets by making continuous pressure for a long time. England did not do so. It is too early to say, but if India corrects its bowling, England may be in a serious crisis, not only this match, but in the entire series.”
Varun said, “From the perspective of England, there was hardly any fielder on the catching position. In Test cricket, if a batsman sees the fielder in the nearest catching area, he has to be careful. But England did not make such pressure.”
He said that for example you take Shoaib Bashir. He bowled around the wicket, but, as an off -spinner, you need at least one slip fielder. He was not there either. Because of this, Shubman Gill sometimes went ahead and sometimes played shots like reverse sweep.
The second day the Indian team batted with the discipline and patience, the former fast bowler praised him.
Aaron said, “Shubman Gill shared an important partnership of 114 runs for the sixth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja and the seventh wicket with Washington Sundar. The batsmen were fully controlled during these partnerships. Jadeja and Gill not only saved the wickets in the first session but also scored fast.”
Let me tell you that in the first two sessions of the second day, India lost only two wickets as Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
In the Test being played in Edgbaston, England won the toss and invited the Indian team to bat. India scored 587 runs in the first innings with captain Shubman Gill’s 269, Ravindra Jadeja’s 89 and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 87 runs.
