According to Vastu, any plot, no matter in which direction, is considered inauspicious. What matters is how the construction is done.
That means ‘facing is bad’ is completely incomplete, the real difference is of design and layout, not of direction.

According to Vaastu beliefs, each part of the house has a different effect-
- North-East (Ishaan): Wealth, Peace and Earning Members
- South-East: Energy, Governance and Women

But one thing needs to be kept in mind here, that there is no scientific evidence for these claims. These are completely based on traditional beliefs.

It is said in many beliefs that if there is a defect in any direction, it has a direct impact on the family members, such as illness, financial problems or obstacles related to marriage.
According to Vastu, the position of each member in the house is decided, the direction of elder members is South-West, South, West and the direction of younger members is North, East, North-East.
This system is given in the name of energy balance, but in reality it also reflects the traditional social structure.

In olden times, people preferred to build single storey houses, such houses were open and also suitable for natural ventilation. The main door is correct, but the stairs are wrong. People make the main door in an auspicious direction, but make stairs or mumti at the same place, which spoils the whole effect.
Wrong drainage system- Putting pipes inside the floor increases the load in that direction, which is called a defect in Vastu.
Dirt in North-East- It is very important to keep this direction clean and light.
What does Vaastu say about toilet, kitchen and temple?
Toilet- From the point of view of modern Vaastu, toilet can be built anywhere, but it is very important to keep the direction in mind.
Kitchen- Traditionally, South-East is considered the right direction for the kitchen, but special care should be taken regarding ventilation.
Temple- There is a lot of confusion in the house regarding the temple. In many beliefs, the temple is said to be in the North-East, while some traditions consider it to be in the South or West.
