Vice Chancellor was for the first time in 2019
Professor Alok Kumar Rai was made the Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University for the first time in 2019. With the beginning of his tenure, the university got to see many important changes .. Lucknow University got A ++ grade in NAC EVATION in his leadership. Which is considered a big achievement for any university.
Lucknow University led by him became the first such university in the country. Which implemented the new education policy at Kobachellers and Masters level. He also focused on the infrastructure of the university, got good labs prepared. The university atmosphere also changed due to their decisions and ways of working. Along with this, new houses should also be built for teachers.

Achievements in his career
Prior to Lucknow University, Professor Alok Rai has worked as a professor of management at Banaras Hindu University. There he was identified as an excellent academic and research guide. After becoming the Vice Chancellor in the lifestyle, he did not allow the university to remain limited to only two campuses. During his tenure, colleges in five districts like Hardoi, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri and Rae Bareli were linked to lifestyle.
More than 2000 foreign students from more than 70 countries applied for admission in the lifestyle. Funding of Rs 100 crore was received under PM Usha Yojana. Started online and distance education. University NIRF rank reached the top 100 in 2024. He also improved the faculty-student ratio through new recruitments.

Professor Alok Kumar Rai’s educational journey started from Allahabad University. From where he studied B.Sc. He then did MBA from Banaras Hindu University and obtained PhD from VBS Purvanchal University. He started his career as a professor in BHU’s Management Studies Department. He is currently working as Vice Chancellor at Lucknow University and has now become the director of IIM Kolkata.
