“I appeal to the Venezuelan people to resume all types of activities in the coming days, including economic, work and education,” Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said in a televised speech.
This incident has come to light hours after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that it is ‘premature’ to discuss holding elections in Venezuela after removing Nicolas Maduro from power. He said the Trump administration is focused on ensuring that the remaining leadership in Caracas implements policy changes.

When Rubio was asked how soon elections would be held in Venezuela after Maduro was captured by the US military on Saturday, he told NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ program, ‘I think it is too early to say at this time.’
According to AFP, he said, ‘At the moment our focus is on all the problems that existed during Maduro’s rule. Those problems still remain to be solved. We will give people an opportunity to solve those challenges and problems.
40 Venezuelans killed in US attack
Trump said on Saturday that the US military has carried out a major attack in Venezuela, in which President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Celia Flores, have been captured.
