Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE is going to make a big change in the way of checking copies of class 12th board examination from this year. Whereas till now the answer sheets were checked on paper, now on-screen marking system can be implemented in its place. Under this new system, the copies will be scanned and checked on the computer screen. The Board believes that this will make the investigation process cleaner, faster and more reliable.

On-screen marking means that the answer sheets of the students will be scanned and given to the examiners in digital form. Teachers will see the answers on the computer or laptop screen and give marks there itself. For this, CBSE will implement a fixed and strict marking scheme, so that every student can get equal evaluation. A special agency is also being selected for this system, which will handle the technical work.

Students will get full benefit from step marking

In this new examination system, the marking scheme of CBSE will be strictly followed. Teachers will give marks on the basis of correct steps and important words. This will benefit those students who write the complete solution to the question, even if the final answer is slightly different. The board says that this will reduce the chances of mistakes and students will get full credit for their correct efforts.

Saving time and reducing mistakes

CBSE believes that digital testing will save a lot of time. There will be no need to send physical copies from one place to another. The investigation work will be completed quickly and the results will also be declared soon. Besides, human errors in manual checking will also be reduced to a great extent. The entire process will be on record, which will increase both transparency and trust.

Cross-checking and moderation will be faster

The process of cross-checking and moderation will also become easier and faster in the on-screen marking system. If necessary, no time will be wasted in re-checking a copy or showing it to another examiner. With everything being digital, the board will be able to easily see whether injustice has been done to any student. This will also eliminate the problem of getting different marks on the same answer to a great extent.

Decision related to national education policy

This step of CBSE is considered to be in line with the National Education Policy. The objective of the new education policy is that students should read and write with understanding instead of memorizing. When the investigation will be done according to clear and fixed rules, then the attention of the students will also go towards studies properly. The board says that this system will help in bringing equality and quality in education.

It may be applicable in class 10th also in future

CBSE has made it clear that if the on-screen marking system is successful in class 12th, then it can also be implemented in class 10th board examination from next year. With this, uniform and modern investigation process can be adopted in the entire board system.
