The grounds have been announced for the 2027 ODI World Cup (2027 ODI World Cup Venues Announced). South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia are going to host the World Cup to be held after 2 years. A total of 54 matches will be played in the tournament, out of which 44 matches will be hosted by South Africa, while the remaining 10 matches have been hosted to Zimbabwe and Namibia. The World Cup tournament will be played in 2027 in October-November.
Plains announced
Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gaubra, Bloomphphontene, East London and Parl have been selected to host the 2027 ODI World Cup. Along with the announcement of Venue, a local organizing committee board has also been formed for the World Cup tournament. The committee will be led by former South African cabinet minister Trevor Manuel. This will be the second time since 2003 when South Africa and Zimbabwe are co-consuming the ODI World Cup. At the same time, Namibia has become the host of the World Cup tournament for the first time.
How will the 2027 World Cup format be?
A total of 14 teams will participate in the 2027 World Cup, two groups of seven teams will be formed. The countries living in the top-3 in both groups will reach the Super-6 stage. In the year 2003, a similar format was adopted. Being a host, South Africa and Zimbabwe have got a direct entry in the World Cup, but the third host Namibia does not have an ICC membership, so it will have to confirm a place in the World Cup through a qualification tournament. The last World Cup was won by Australia, which defeated India by 6 wickets in the final match played at Narendra Modi Stadium.
