Shreyas Iyer will return to international cricket from the ODI series against New Zealand, before which he is playing Vijay Hazare Trophy matches to gain match fitness. His comeback was brilliant, the Mumbai captain played a brilliant inning of 82 runs against Himachal Pradesh.
Shreyas Iyer got injured while fielding during the Australia tour last year. He was admitted to the hospital after internal bleeding was detected. Due to injury, the vice-captain had to stay out of the ODI series against South Africa, but now he has been included in the team against New Zealand. However, BCCI clarified that he will be able to play only after getting clearance from BCCI Center and Excellence. Now Iyer has returned to competitive cricket with a brilliant innings.

In the match being played at Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground, Himachal Pradesh captain Mridul Praveen had won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mumbai’s first wicket fell in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal (21), after which Sarfaraz Khan was out on the score of 55. There was a partnership of 82 runs between Iyer and Musheer Khan for the third wicket. Musheer was out after scoring 73 runs.
Shreyas Iyer completed his half-century, although he missed his century. He scored 82 runs in 53 balls at a strike rate of 154.72. In this innings the captain hit 3 sixes and 10 fours. Batting first, Mumbai scored 299 runs.
The first ODI with New Zealand is on January 11.
