Amidst the Bihar Assembly elections (2025), BJP MLA from Bansdih (UP) Ketki Singh has given rise to a new controversy by throwing Paag in Darbhanga. NDA workers conference was organized in Alinagar, Darbhanga last Wednesday (October 22, 2025). MLA Ketki Singh had reached this occasion. He was welcomed from Paag of Mithila. During this program, Ketki Singh threw his bag in front of Maithili Thakur and other workers and people.
Ketki Singh said to the people, “When we came from Ballia, you people welcomed us with madness. What is this madness?” Mithila is honored by the voice of the people. Throwing away the paag, Ketaki Singh said, “No…this is not the honor of Mithila…” Pointing towards Maithili Thakur he said, “This is the honor of Mithila.”

Anger spread against Ketki Singh among the workers and local people present on the spot after throwing Paag during the program. People say that Paag is a symbol of the identity and culture of Mithila. To insult it like this is to hurt the sentiments of the entire region.
Many prominent leaders of BJP were also present in the conference. Bihar government minister Hari Sahni, Darbhanga MP Gopal Ji Thakur, Darbhanga election in-charge Upendra Tiwari, BJP district president Vinay Paswan and many other senior leaders were there. However, no senior leader opposed this statement of the MLA.
