The viral video is said to be from Juhu Beach area of Mumbai. In the video, a person is seen standing with an air testing machine in his hand. This machine is called air quality monitor, which shows the pollution of the air in one number. This number is called AQI. If we understand in simple words, the higher the AQI, the worse the air is considered.
Man covered AQI meter with N-95 mask
In the video, first of all the person tests the air without anything. The AQI figure on the machine appears to be between 191 to 192. The person tells that around 200 AQI means that the air is not clean and there may be difficulty in breathing. After this he takes out an N95 mask and completely covers the back part of the air testing machine, from where the machine draws air.
The figure came down from 200 to 37
As soon as the N95 mask is put on the machine, the AQI number starts falling rapidly within a few seconds. Within no time the AQI reaches 35 to 37. That means the air suddenly starts appearing much clearer. After this the person removes the mask and the machine comes into the open air again. As soon as the mask is removed, the AQI number rapidly increases to 201. People watching the video were surprised to see this scene.
