If this debate had taken place in Pakistan, then both Mufti Shumail Nadvi and Javed Akhtar would have been charged under section 295A. Maulana further said that Javed Akhtar would face a case of insulting God and Mufti would face a case of kissing his hand. But in which Islamic Republic of Pakistan they are, it is a matter of India only which has been debated.
What is 295-A, there has always been controversy about it
Section 295-A: Deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings of any class, including insulting their religion or religious beliefs. Section 295-B: There is a provision of punishment of up to 10 years for desecrating the Holy Quran, making fun of God or insulting it. There has been a lot of controversy in Pakistan regarding 295-A and 295-C.
