Vigilance department raids in odisha: A surprising incident came to light from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, when a man began to throw crores of rupees notes from his flat window. This person is none other than Baikunth Nath Sarangi, Chief Engineer in the Rural Development Department in the Government of Odisha. In fact, the house of the government chief engineer was raided and due to fear of raids, Chief Engineer Baikunth Nath Sarangi threw out of his flat window of 500 rupee notes.

Baikunth Nath Sarangi was raided in the case of corruption and disproportionate assets. During this time more than Rs 2 crore cash was recovered from Baikunth. After this action, now in the Odisha government, the Chief Engineer of the Road Department has come under the scanner of Vigilance Department.

The Vigilance Department raided the respective locations of the Chief Engineer in Angul, Bhubaneswar and Pipili (Puri) of Odisha simultaneously. In this action, the Vigilance Department has recovered cash worth about Rs 2.1 crore.

In this incident, there was a surprising turn when the officials of the Vigilance Department reached the house of Baikunth Nath Sarangi to raid. Fearing the raids, Chief Engineer Baikunth Nath Sarangi threw the bundles of crores of notes out of his flat window. However, the bundles of those notes were later recovered by the officials of the Vigilance Department in the presence of witnesses.

2.1 crore cash recovered from two places

Officials of the Vigilance Department recovered cash worth 1.1 crore from the fingers of Sarangi and 1 crore from Bhubaneswar flat in the raid. The department took this action on charges of possessing disproportionate assets from known sources. A total of 26 police officers were deployed during this action, including 8 DSPs, 12 inspectors and 6 ASIs along with other assistant employees.
