Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah has reached the Supreme Court against registering an FIR on him. The Madhya Pradesh High Court had ordered the FIR on Vijay Shah, who made a disputed statement about the army’s Colonel Sophia Qureshi. Following the order of the High Court, an FIR has been lodged against the minister at Manpur police station of Mhow tehsil of Indore on Wednesday, 14 May.

In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, Vijay Shah has said that there was no need for such strict action in the case. His statement was distorted and presented incorrectly. He has also apologized for his statement. Vijay Shah’s lawyers will demand an early hearing in the Supreme Court.

The Jabalpur bench of the High Court had taken cognizance of Vijay Shah’s disputed speech on Colonel Sophia Qureshi, who played the role of army spokesperson during ‘Operation Sindoor’. Describing the language of the minister as a gutter level, the High Court had asked the DGP of the state to register a case within 4 hours.

Following this order, the police, showing activeness, recorded under Section 152 (endangering the sovereignty, unity and integrity of the country), 196 (1) (b) (promoting enmity in different communities) and section 197 (1) (C) (C) (commentaries spoiling the member of a community on religious, linguistic or other basis).
