Vinfast has reported that bookings for VF6 and VF7 will be started in June. The company’s factory is being set up in Tamil Nadu. The factory will start in the next few weeks and its initial annual capacity will be around 50,000 units. The company displayed its electric vehicles at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo held earlier this year. The company is trying to increase its sales in Asian countries rather than expansion in North America and Europe. Vinfast plans to set up a factory in Indonesia in October. After China’s byd in the country’s market, it will be the second fully EV company to enter.
The company’s VF7 is a premium SUV. This mid-size will compete in the electric SUV segment. It has V-themed LED DRLs and Split LED headlamps. Its length is 4.5 meters. It has 18 inch alloy wheels. The VF7 will have two motor options. In VF7 Plus, single motor will generate 201 BHP power and torque up to 310 Nm. Apart from this, the VF7 Plus AWD will have a dual-motor setup. In these two variants, a 75.3 kwh battery pack will be given. The range of its single charge can be about 450 kilometers. It will get features like ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, level 2 adas.
The sale of electric vehicles has increased rapidly over the years. Tata Motors have the highest stake in this market. The world’s third largest vehicle market is being considered by the Central Government in India to reduce import duty on EV. However, no decision has been taken in this regard. Electric cars hold about two percent in the total sales of cars in the country. The government has targeted to increase it from 2030 to 30 percent.
