Kohli admitted that it was not easy to decide, which ended the speculation about his future in the long format of the game. The period of speculation began after a disappointing performance of Australia’s tour early in the year.
Kohli announced on his Instagram page, ‘I have played for the game, with whom I played in the field and I am taking gratitude in the heart for every person who has seen me playing during this game.’
After making his debut in 2011, Kohli made India the world’s number one team in this format and won the historic series in Australia in 2018-19.
Last year, after playing an important role in India’s T20 World Cup win in the Caribbean country, he retired from T20 International, so that he will now play only in ODIs.
