There has been a stir in Maharashtra after the incident of a madrasa asking for ‘virginity certificate’ from girl students in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. Taking this matter seriously, Maharashtra State Minority Commission Chairman Pyare Khan has issued orders to investigate minority educational institutions and madrassas in all the districts of the state.
Pyare Khan said that I have seen the incident in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, which is very shameful. After this I have sent a letter to all the district collectors of Maharashtra. It has been instructed that a special team should be formed in every district, which should visit all the minority schools and madrassas.

This big team will investigate madrassas
Maharashtra State Minority Commission Chairman Pyare Khan said that more and more officials of the Child Welfare Department will be included in the investigation team into the Moradabad Madrasa incident so that their situation can be understood by talking to the children. He said that we want to know through counseling from the children whether such a case is happening in Maharashtra also.
Strict action will be taken against those found guilty
Minority Commission chief Pyare Khan said that if the investigation confirms such acts against any organization or individual, then strict action will be taken against them. Any organization or individual found involved in such shameful acts will not be spared at any cost. We will directly send the operators of those institutions to jail.
Safety of children is paramount – Pyare Khan
Pyare Khan clarified that the main objective of the commission is to protect children and their rights. Madrassas and minority institutions are centers of imparting education and values, such inhuman acts are unacceptable there. There will be no compromise with the dignity and respect of children.
Preparation for investigation campaign across the state
Now in Maharashtra, the District Administration and Child Development Department are together going to start a statewide investigation campaign. In the coming days, all madrassas and minority educational institutions will be inspected so that such incidents are not repeated.
This step of Pyare Khan has been welcomed by social organizations and child rights activists. He says that this investigation will not only fix accountability but will also increase transparency in minority educational institutions.
