Permits and Fees in Bhutan
Indian citizens do not require a Bhutan visa, but a permit is necessary. Normally in Bhutan one has to pay Rs 1,200 Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) per night. Children under 5 years of age do not have to pay any fee, and for children of 6-12 years it is half price. If you are taking a day trip to Phuentsholing, you can avoid this fee altogether. People of Jaigaon often return to India by evening to avoid customs duty. Local people can go to Phuentsholing by paying a small fee of only Rs 50-100. To go beyond this, additional permits are required. Also, Indian registered vehicles can enter limited areas of Bhutan without any fees. If the vehicle goes beyond the Rinchending checkpoint in Phuentsholing, a green tax of 4,500 nu (approximately Rs 4,528) will have to be paid per day.
How to reach Jaigaon
