Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday (December 2, 2025) gave a big warning to Europe ahead of peace talks with the US on the Ukraine war. Putin said that if Europe wants to go to war, Russia is ready for it. He accused European leaders of trying to sabotage any possible agreement on the Ukraine war, about which the US delegation was scheduled to meet with Russian President Putin.
Putin’s statement came at a time when US Ambassador Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner were present in Moscow for high-level talks to end the nearly four-year-long war, for which serious diplomatic efforts had been made for the last several days.
What did Vladimir Putin say about Europe?,
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a conversation with journalists, “We are not planning any war with Europe, but if Europe wants a war and starts it, then we are also fully prepared.” Reiterating his claim that European leaders are obstructing America’s efforts to establish peace in Ukraine, he said, “They have no agenda for peace, they are in favor of war.
Putin also said, “The purpose of the changes made by Europe in Trump’s new plan to end the war is to stop the entire peace process and to make such demands for Russia, which are completely unacceptable for it.”
Trump’s support for peace plan
Washington had presented a draft of 28 points to end the Ukraine war that has been going on for almost four years, which was later changed after criticism from Kiev and Europe. He believed that this proposal appeared to be bowing to most of Russia’s demands. US President Trump is supporting this plan to end the Ukraine war, but European countries fear that Kiev may be forced to bow to Russia’s demands.
