In Uttar Pradesh, a big update has come out about the three -tier panchayat elections. The State Election Commission has issued a notification for the final publication of the voter list. Preparations for panchayat elections will start formally from 18 July 2025. The last publication of the election name will be on 15 January 2026. After this, there will be a Mahasangram of Panchayat elections in March 2026.
Meanwhile, the transfers of officers have been banned at present for the purpose of making the election process transparent and fair. OSD State Election Commission, IAS Dr. Akhilesh Mishra has sent a letter to all the district officials in this regard. The stir of panchayat elections has intensified once again in Uttar Pradesh.
The work of amending the voter list has started
The work of amending the voter list has started from June 2025. In which the work of removing the names of the dead and adding new voters will be done. Along with this, the process of appointment of booth level officer (BLO) and supervisors has also started. These elections are important for the selection of village heads, area panchayat members, and District Panchayat Presidents.
512 gram panchayats were reduced in UP under new delimitation
The UP Panchayat elections are being seen as a ‘semi -finals’ before the 2027 assembly elections. These elections in 57,695 gram panchayats, 826 blocks and 75 district panchayats in Uttar Pradesh are considered important for political parties. Recently, the Panchayati Raj Department has completed the reorganization of Gram Panchayats, under which 512 gram panchayats have been reduced, now elections will be held in a total of 57,694 gram panchayats. In the new delimitation, the maximum number of gram panchayats in three districts of the state have been reduced, which are Chitrakoot, Azamgarh and Deoria.
