These statements have increased concerns about the safety of the minority community in Bangladesh.
‘It is haraam to vote for a Hindu’
In a viral video, a cleric says during a religious program that voting for any Hindu or “infidel” candidate is haraam in Islam. This statement is being considered to spoil the atmosphere before the elections.

Threats given to temples and ISKCON
In another video, some speakers are seen openly issuing threats against Hindu temples and religious institutions. According to the video, they talk about destroying temples and statues. The name of ISKCON organization has also been taken in this, which has its presence in Bangladesh.

Violence increased in recent weeks
These videos have come out at a time when there have been many attacks on people of Hindu community in Bangladesh in recent times. Many people have died in these incidents, due to which an atmosphere of fear is created.
India expressed concern
The Government of India has expressed deep concern over these incidents. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that there are repeated attacks on minorities and their property in Bangladesh, which is a matter of great concern.
Demand for strict action
Randhir Jaiswal said that quick and strict action should be taken in such cases. He also said that it is wrong to ignore these attacks by calling them a personal feud or political dispute.
Youth dies trying to escape from crowd
In a recent incident, 25 year old Mithun Sarkar died. The mob attacked him accusing him of theft. To save his life, he jumped into the canal, but died due to drowning. In the last few weeks, many Hindu civilians like Moni Chakraborty, Rana Pratap Bairagi and Khokan Chandra Das have been killed. Apart from this, a case of lynching of Dipu Chandra Das has also come to light.
