The Supreme Court will hear the petitions filed against the Waqf Amendment Act on 16 April. 15 people including AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Jamiat Ulema -e -Hind, Congress MP Mohammad Javed have so far filed petitions in the Supreme Court. On this, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas Paswan) chief and MP Chirag Paswan has said that the opposition is running in courts to defend the previous law, but also see how many Muslims were those who could not go to court against this law.

In The Indian Express Program Express Adda, Chirag Paswan spoke about the Waqf Amendment Act and opposition to the opposition. He said that be it the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) or Article 370, the opposition protested every time, but they proved wrong. He said that the CAA was brought to the neighboring countries to give citizenship to the minorities persecuted, which the opposition tried to create a wrong atmosphere that its purpose was to snatch citizenship. However, his maneuvers could not work.

Chirag Paswan said that the same was done about the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, but in the recent assembly elections here, the opposition proved to be wrong. As he was making predictions about Article 370, but the National Conference won and Omar Abdullah became the Chief Minister again.

On August 5, 2019, Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the state was divided into two parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. These two are union territories. 23 petitions were filed in the Supreme Court against this decision of the Center. CAA provides citizenship to six religious minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, including Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhist, Parsi, Jains and Christians. It was implemented across the country on March 11, 2024.

Chirag Paswan said that now this is the propaganda of the opposition regarding the Waqf Amendment Act, but people will understand over time that the Waqf Amendment Act is correct and for their good. He said, ‘AAP (Opposition) are knocking on the doors of courts to protect the old law, but there are how many cases that cannot go against the previous law.’

On April 8, the Center issued a notification to bring the Waqf Amendment Act into effect, the aim is to change the Waqf properties and solve problems related to the management and control of Waqf properties. At the same time, those who oppose the law say that the caff is a religious institution, the government intervention in its functioning is wrong.

The petitioners have said that the new Waqf law is against fundamental rights like Article 14, 15 (equality), 25 (religious freedom) 26 (religious affairs) and 29 (minority rights) of the Constitution. The petitioners have also described the change in law against Article 300A i.e. the right to property.
