Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘War 2’ were released simultaneously, it was bound to be compared. Both are big actors and superstars too. If you look at the track record of both the previous films, they are going to create an outcry at the box office.
Before the opening day, from the time of advance booking collection, there was a comparison between the two, which film will be heavy on whom. According to most reports, the ‘Coolie’ was seen to be overshadowed.
Prior to release ‘Coolie’ was heavy on ‘War 2’
According to the Times of India report, Rajinikanth’s film earned 100 crores worldwide in advance booking, while ‘War 2’ was far behind.
Apart from this, according to the report of Sixelk, where ‘Coolie’ earned 65 crores in the first day collection, ‘War 2’ collected only Rs 51.55 crore.
In the case of worldwide collection, Rajinikanth’s film also became the 6th biggest film in India, while a collection of Rs 153.50 crore on Opening Day, while Hrithik Roshan-Jinier NTR’s film earned only 80 crores.

But ‘War 2’ defeated ‘Coolie’ in these 5 cases
Looking at the initial earnings and above figures, it seems that ‘War 2’ lagged behind ‘Kuli’, but there is a bag here. Actually, by the end of the second day, some more figures came out, which shows that ‘War 2’ is actually overshadowing ‘Coolie’.
On seeing the collection of both films of the first day in different languages, ‘War 2’ was seen beating Rajinikanth’s film.
- ‘War 2’ earned 29 crores in Hindi on the first day, but due to the Telugu star junior NTR, he earned Rs 22.25 crore in Telugu and 25 lakhs in Tamil. That is, this film was able to earn well in Rajinikanth’s area i.e. in South.
- Looking at the opening day collection of ‘Kuli’, it earned Rs 44.5 crore in Tamil, but despite the Hindi actor Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth’s fan following, the film was able to earn only Rs 4.5 crore in Hindi and only 15.5 crores in Telugu.
- It is obvious that Hrithik Roshan went to Rajinikanth’s area and defeated his film, but Rajinikanth could not do the same collection in Hindi. That is, the first choice of Hindi and Telugu audience was ‘War 2’.

On the second day ‘War 2’ launched Rajinikanth far behind
It is amazing that this year no film could cross the 100 crore mark in two days, but both these films became 100 crores in 2 days. But Rajinikanth lagged behind in the second day’s earnings.
- ‘Coolie’ collected a collection of Rs 109.8 crore till the second day of writing the story till the story was written.
- Whereas ‘War’ earned 56.50 crores on the second day of its own first day collection and left the South film behind in the second day collection, while collectioning a total collection of Rs 108 crore.
