In a meeting with chiefs of staff and senior military officials on Wednesday, Katz directed the military to prepare a comprehensive plan to defeat Hamas if Israel decides to resume its campaign in Gaza. He said that if Hamas refuses to implement US President Donald Trump’s plan then there is a need to resume fighting.

According to Xinhua news agency, Katz said that under the ceasefire plan, Hamas is required to return the bodies of all hostages who died in its custody and to disarm. Israel will take steps to destroy all tunnels and terrorist structures in Gaza, to ensure that the strip is demilitarized and poses no threat to Israel.
