After the meeting, US President Donald Trump said that his meeting was very good. He told that many important issues were discussed openly in the meeting. Trump says he is confident that the Russia-Ukraine war is now very close to ending, perhaps closer than ever. He told that after this meeting he and President Zelensky have also talked to European leaders and considerable progress has been made towards stopping the war. Trump described this war as one of the deadliest conflicts after the Second World War.
He said that 91 percent of the people of Ukraine want this war to end. Russia also wants the same and the whole world wants this war to stop now.
‘Putin wants the war to end’
Trump told that before this meeting he had talked on the phone with Russian President Putin. Regarding Russian President Putin, Trump said that he saw Putin in a different light today. According to Trump, Putin himself wants the war to end and he placed a lot of emphasis on this. Trump said that he has confidence in Putin.
Regarding the meeting with Putin and Zelensky, Trump said that he thinks it will definitely happen, just waiting for the right time. He reiterated that Putin also wants such a meeting and he himself has said this emphatically. On the possibility of going to Ukraine, Trump said that if this stops the war and the lives of about 25 thousand people can be saved every month, then he is definitely ready to go to Ukraine.
‘Putin showed generous attitude’
US President Donald Trump said that Russia also wants Ukraine to move forward and succeed. He said, ‘This may sound a bit strange, but when I was talking to President Putin on the phone, he showed a very liberal attitude towards Ukraine. This also includes providing energy, electricity and other essential commodities at very low prices. “Many good and positive things have come out of the phone call with Putin today.”
Zelensky said this
After the meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that there were good and detailed talks between the two countries on all important issues. Zelensky said, ‘We discussed all aspects. 90 percent consensus has been reached on America’s 20-point peace plan. 100 percent agreement has been reached on America-Ukraine security guarantee. The Ukrainian President said that talks have also been reached on military aspects. Along with this, the plan is being finalized. Apart from this, the sequence of further action has also been discussed.
He said that both sides agree that security guarantees are a very important step towards achieving lasting peace. In this direction, the teams of both the countries will continue to work keeping all aspects in mind. Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine is fully ready for peace.
Meeting will be held in Washington in January
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in January, Trump will hold an important meeting with the leaders of Ukraine and Europe in Washington DC.
