In just 36 hours, the police exposed the blind incident of murder of 6-year-old girl Vidhi that took place on Monday (01 December) in Naultha village of Panipat in Haryana. The police arrested the woman accused of being a ‘psycho killer’ in this case. The woman accused of ‘psycho killer’ has been identified as Poonam, wife of Naveen, resident of Bhavad village of Sonipat. Accused Poonam seems to be Vidhi’s aunt by relation. The accused are Poonam’s husband Naveen and deceased Vidhi’s father Sandeep are cousins.

SP Bhupendra Singh said during the press conference on Wednesday (03 December) in the auditorium of the police department located at the District Secretariat that on 1 December in the evening, information was received in the police control room that a 6-year-old girl had died due to drowning in a water tub in the house in Naultha village. As soon as the information was received, the police team immediately reached the spot.

Girl found face down in tub full of water

During investigation at the house, the police found out that the family members had found the girl’s body lying face down in a plastic tub filled with water inside the store room on the first floor of the house. The head was submerged in water and the feet were outside. The police found the case suspicious and got the post-mortem of the girl’s body done by the board of doctors at the Civil Hospital, handed over the body to the family members and started investigation. The spot was also inspected by the forensic team.

Case registered on grandfather’s complaint

SP Bhupendra Singh IPS said, “On the complaint of the girl’s grandfather, Pal Singh, resident of village Bhavad Hall West Ram Nagar, Sonipat, legal action was taken against unknown person in police station Israna under section 103 (1) of BNS.” In the complaint given to PUSIS, Pal Singh had told that in village Naultha, his wife Ompati’s son was married to his brother Satpal. Ompati had come to Naultha on 24th November itself. Son Sandeep, daughter-in-law Rakhi, granddaughter Vidhi and grandson Divya (10 months) had arrived at the wedding on 30 November. He also reached the wedding on November 1 at around 1 pm.

Information received about granddaughter missing after marriage procession

The police officer further said, “The entire family was busy in the wedding rituals. At around 1:30 pm, he went to the wedding procession sitting in the groom Aman’s car and his son Sandeep in another car. After some time, information was received through phone that granddaughter Vidhi was missing. Wife Ompati and daughter-in-law Rakhi searched around the house and in the streets. After some time the wife went to the first floor of Ompati Satpal’s house. The store room built there was found locked from outside. When opened, Vidhi was found lying face down in a plastic tub filled with water. The head was submerged and the legs were outside. Son Sandeep took Vidhi to Israna Medical College, where the doctor declared Vidhi dead.

The accused woman is a resident of Sonipat.

SP Bhupendra Singh also said that considering the seriousness of the matter, he had handed over the investigation of the matter to CIA One in-charge Inspector Phool Kumar and his team under the leadership of DSP Naveen Sandhu. Investigating various angles, the police team on Wednesday exposed the incident and arrested the woman accused of being a ‘psycho killer’. The accused has been identified as Poonam, wife of Naveen, resident of Bhavad village of Sonipat.

Accused Poonam seems to be Vidhi’s aunt by relation. During interrogation, accused Poonam confessed to killing the girl Vidhi by drowning her in water. During interrogation, the accused woman told that she was married to Naveen, a resident of Bhavad village of Sonipat, in the year 2019. Husband Naveen and father of deceased girl Vidhi, Sandeep, are cousins.

The accused woman made shocking revelations

Shocking revelations have come to light during the police interrogation of a woman accused of being a ‘psycho killer’. During interrogation, the accused woman told the police that in January 2019, she had earlier murdered her own 3-year-old son Shubham and her sister-in-law’s 9-year-old daughter Ishika by drowning them in a water tank built at home in Bhavad village of Sonipat in January 2019. Due to the fear that his family might suspect him, he had murdered Ishika and her son Shubham. Then the sister-in-law had come to her maternal home from Gangana village along with her daughter Ishika.

I used to get irritated seeing beautiful girls!

In August 2025, at her maternal home in Siwah village, she murdered her cousin’s 6-year-old daughter Jiya by drowning her in the water tank built at her house. Then the family members considered the children’s death due to drowning in water to be a coincidence and performed the last rites. During interrogation, the accused woman told the police that she used to get irritated after seeing beautiful girls. He committed 4 crimes one after the other.

Vidhi had come to the wedding of a family member in Naultha village.

SP Bhupendra Singh IPS further said that during interrogation, the accused woman told the police that she had come to her maternal home in Siwah village for the last few days. She said, “There was a wedding of Aman and daughter of husband Naveen’s maternal uncle Satpal in village Naultha. She went to the wedding on 30 November. Aman’s marriage procession took place in the afternoon of 1st December. All the guests were out of the house. Meanwhile, he saw the girl Vidhi climbing the stairs of the house.

The police officer said, “The accused woman followed him to the terrace and after talking to Vidhi, got a plastic tub filled with water brought inside from outside the store room. After this, she killed Vidhi by drowning her neck in the tub and came down by latching the door from outside.” After interrogation, the police on Wednesday presented ‘psycho killer’ female accused Poonam in the court from where she was sent to judicial custody jail.
