In Pakistan, leaders often talk about honesty and justice in their speeches, but when it came to the real test, the actions of the MPs told a different story. A small incident that happened inside the National Assembly has now become the cause of big discussion on social media. Parliament Speaker Ayaz Sadiq found some notes on the floor of the House and thought of asking his identity, but the scene that unfolded raised a big question on the honesty of many leaders sitting there.
The incident took place during the session on Monday (December 8, 2025), when the Speaker found notes worth about Rs 16 to 17 thousand. Smiling innocently, he waved the notes in the air and asked whose money it was. Perhaps his intention was to check the hands of one person, but as soon as he asked the question, almost a dozen MPs raised their hands and said that this money was theirs. All this happened so suddenly that even the speaker himself was surprised.

How claims of honesty are broken
As soon as Speaker Ayaz Sadiq raised the note and asked whose it was, about 12-13 hands stood up together. First surprise and then laughter appeared on his face. He said in a joking tone that there is not as much money as people are claiming. He said that the entire House seems to be raising hands, while the number of notes is very less. The real message behind this light-hearted statement was that some representatives sitting in Parliament stake claims at any opportunity without thinking. This scene went viral on social media within a few minutes.
Seeing the video, thousands of Pakistani citizens took a jibe at their leaders. Many people started writing that this scene was no less than a comedy show. It was also said on social media that it is understandable when common people behave like this, but when MPs elected by the public behave like this then it is very shameful for the image of the country.
Who turned out to be the real owner and why was it made fun of?
According to local media, this money belonged to Imran Khan’s party PTI MP Muhammad Iqbal Afridi. After investigation, the notes were returned to him, but the way many other MPs also declared the money as theirs without thinking, made the whole matter ridiculous. Pakistanis reacted fiercely on social media. People wrote that these MPs should be thrown out of Parliament because they have hurt the reputation of the country.
Many people joked that even leaders who draw salaries and allowances worth lakhs could not control themselves after seeing a few thousand rupees. One user wrote that the speaker might not have even picked up the missed calls of the Sharif family. Someone else wrote that being surprised at this incident is a waste of time, because this is what is expected there.
