Suppose you buy a ticket for IPL and its price has been fixed at Rs 1000. If GST used to take 28 percent on this, then according to that you had to pay a total of 1280 rupees for this, but now according to the new rates you have to pay 1400 rupees for it. Meaning now fans will have to pay 120 rupees more. In this way, if the ticket price is Rs 2000, then GST will be Rs 800 and the total price will be Rs 2800.
Its effect will be seen during IPL 2026. If the organizers did not give any relief in ticket prices or increase it, then there may be a shortage of fans in the stadium. No. GST has not been increased on the ticket of recognized tournament. For national or international level games, GST will not be imposed on tickets of Rs 500, while only 18 percent GST will be applicable on tickets of more than this.
