Israel will honor US President Donald Trump with the Presidential Medal of Honor, the highest civilian award, for the Gaza peace agreement. Meanwhile, Trump and Netanyahu met the hostages and their families released from Hamas captivity in the Israeli Parliament. In the Israeli Parliament, all the MPs stood up and clapped and welcomed Trump warmly. Israeli Parliament Speaker Amir Ohana described Trump as a giant of Jewish history.
‘Trump’s name will be recorded in Israel’s legacy’
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, while addressing his MPs, praised Trump profusely. Referring to the US President in his speech, he said, “Today is a day full of emotions. Your (Trump) name is recorded in the heritage of our nation. It has already been recorded in the history of humanity. We have waited for this moment for a long time and I want to personally thank you on behalf of the entire nation.”
Trump-Trump slogans echoed in Israeli Parliament
Netanyahu said that Donald Trump is Israel’s best friend ever in the White House, after which anti-Trump slogans started being raised in the House. He said that till now no American President has done so much for Israel.” Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has nominated US President Trump for his country’s highest award.
We paid a heavy price for the war: Netanyahu
Netanyahu said, “We have paid a heavy price for this war, but our enemies now understand how powerful and how determined Israel is. They (Hamas) promised to bring all the hostages back home and have done so. I am committed to peace.”
Referring to Trump, Netanyahu said, “Two months ago you fully supported my decision to send the IDF to Hamas’s last stronghold in Gaza City. You agreed with my view that this military pressure would help free the hostages. We know that despite all the criticism and opposition, we were right.”
