There is a continuous discussion on this issue after Kolkata Knight Riders released Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from IPL. In protest, Bangladesh banned IPL telecast, they have also decided not to send their team to India for the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Bangladesh fast bowler Tanzim Saqib said that we want to play in IPL and cricket should be kept away from politics.
Kolkata Knight Riders bought Mustafizur Rahman for IPL 2026 for Rs 9.20 crore. In protest against the killing of Hindu youth in Bangladesh, KKR and team owner Shahrukh Khan started being criticized because his team had bought a Bangladeshi player. Seeing the matter escalating, BCCI directed KKR to release the player, about which KKR told in its statement. Tanzeem Saqib said that he wants to play in the league but now after this, he will consult the concerned people before putting his name in the auction.
What did Tanzeem Saqib say?
Tanzeem was included in the auction for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, although he was not bought by any team. He believes that cricket should be kept away from politics. According to him, Mustafizur Rahman was released due to political reasons.
Tanzeem said, “It is not clear why he (Mustafizur) was dropped from the IPL. There may be political reasons behind it. But it would be better to keep politics away from cricket. As players, we do not think about the political aspect. We have a desire to play in the IPL and we send our names accordingly. Next year, we will consult the agents and related people in the country before deciding whether to send our names or not.”
