India has successfully tested Agni-5 Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). It has not only affected the global strategic balance not only Asia but also. In the last week of July 2025, Turki unveiled its first hypersonic ballistic missile Taifun Block-4. It has been developed by Turk’s official defense company Roketsan. This missile can make an accurate attack at a distance of 280 kilometers. Its specialty is that this air defense system, command center and sensitive military bases are capable of targeting. In addition, it can be guided by a satellite-based navigation system, which increases its accuracy even further. Through this technique the Turki wants to convey the message that it will no longer depend on traditional weapons, but is also ready to compete in modern missile technology.
Steel Dome Turki’s Air Defense Project
In August 2022, Erdogan’s government announced the Steel Dome Project. Its purpose is to create a network by connecting the sea and ground -based air defense platforms and sensors that can protect the Turks. Recently, Erdogan unveiled the new phase of the project, including 47 vehicles and spent about $ 460 million. Erdogan said that this system will create faith in our friends and fear in enemies. However, it has not been clarified yet when the steel dome will be completely turned on.
Turk’s defense strategy changes
India’s Agni-5 missile test has forced the Turks to think where he stands in global geopolitics. Despite being a member of NATO, the Turki has always emphasized on making its defense system independent and self -sufficient. Projects such as Taifun Block-4 and Steel Dome symbolize that the Turkas want to strengthen their safety abilities not only regional but also globally.
