Diwali is a festival of happiness and lights. During this time, we consume a lot of sweets, stay awake till late night, burst crackers and also eat unhealthy things. Apart from this, the weather changes rapidly after Diwali. There is a sudden inclination from heat to cold. At the same time, the level of pollution also increases significantly at this time. Due to all these reasons, our immunity i.e. the power to fight diseases can become weak and when immunity is weak, problems like cold, cough, flu, fatigue and weakness quickly arise.

In such a situation, it is important that we pay special attention to our health after Diwali. Especially those people whose immunity is already a little weak, like the elderly, children or those who keep getting cold and cough frequently. In such a situation, let us know what things people with weak immunity should keep in mind if the weather changes suddenly after Diwali.

1. Adopt Ayurvedic remedies – Ayurveda mentions many natural herbs and home remedies that strengthen the body from within, such as Ashwagandha, which helps in reducing stress and strengthening the immune system. Apart from this, basil gives strength to fight bacteria and viruses. Amla is a rich source of Vitamin C, which gives energy to the body and keeps digestion healthy. Taking herbal tea, decoction or Ayurvedic drinks made from these herbs daily can be very beneficial. These things clean the inside of the body, heal the digestive system and reduce inflammation.

2. Detox the body – After festive food, toxins i.e. poisonous elements accumulate in the body. It is important to take them out so that immunity is maintained. To detox, drink fresh fruit juice like pomegranate, orange or carrot juice. Eat green vegetables like spinach, fenugreek and bathua, turmeric, ginger and garlic daily, these are natural detox agents. By detoxing, the body feels light, the skin becomes clear and digestion also improves.

3. Keep digestion strong – Digestive power is the real strength of the body. If digestion becomes weak, the body is unable to absorb nutrients properly and immunity starts decreasing. In such a situation, drink hot water or herbal tea to speed up digestion. Use spices like asafoetida, cumin, ginger in food. Avoid cold, stale and fried food.

4. Increase immunity through meditation and yoga – Nowadays stress is also a major reason for weakening immunity. After the hustle and bustle of Diwali, one often feels tired and lack of sleep. In such a situation, it is very important to do meditation and yoga for 10-15 minutes daily. Meditation reduces stress, improves sleep, provides mental peace and strengthens the immune system. By doing meditation and yoga, the respiratory system also improves, which is very important during the time of cold and cough.

5. Adopt home remedies – Drinking turmeric water or Amla juice on an empty stomach in the morning works like immunity shots. Due to this, the digestion of the body remains fine and the nutrients are easily absorbed. You can drink homemade shots by mixing turmeric, hot water and honey. Apart from this, you can make a decoction of ginger, lemon, black pepper and honey. Drinking these daily makes the body capable of fighting diseases.

6. Keep the body active – After Diwali, people often become lethargic, especially as soon as the cold starts, people go out less. But, the body needs movement. Therefore, walk for at least 30 minutes daily, do light exercise or yoga, be active in household chores, being active improves blood circulation, reduces inflammation and improves immune function.

7. Eat things rich in antioxidants – Antioxidants protect body cells from damage. These fight free radicals and strengthen immunity. Good sources of these are berries, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, flaxseed, fruits and vegetables, such as carrots, beets, broccoli. Include these in your daily diet.
