The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains and lightning in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and hilly states, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir, besides the country’s capital Delhi in the beginning of August.

According to the Meteorological Department, the capital Delhi will be cloudy throughout the day on Friday (1 August 2025). There is a possibility of lightning shining and light rain. The maximum temperature is expected to be 34 and the minimum temperature is 24 degrees. Light rain is expected in the first week of August.

Rain is expected in West UP today
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in the western areas of UP on today (August 1, 2025). These include Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Agra, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur and around Bareilly.

Talking about Madhya Pradesh, hundreds of villages have been flooded in many districts adjacent to rivers. In Gwalior-Chambal zone, the Kota Barrage of Rajasthan, the water being released from Nunar Dam is increasing in the Chambal river, due to which the condition in this area is the worst.

Floods in many areas of Rajasthan
The water level of Chambal and Parvati rivers has crossed the danger mark due to heavy rains in Rajasthan. In Dholpur, Chambal is flowing 12 meters above the danger mark, due to which many areas here have drowned. The army has been called for relief and rescue. Flood situation in Kota, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk remain.

Manali-Leh route increases the risk of collapse
Talking about the hilly states, due to the strong rains in Himachal Pradesh, the danger of the Manali-Leh route has increased due to reaching the houses and shops in the Bais area of Manali. IMD has predicted heavy rains in Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Shimla and Sirmaur districts on Friday.

Kedarnath Yatra was postponed for the second day
Kedarnath Yatra remained postponed for the second day on Thursday due to landslides and excessive rains in Uttarakhand. NDRF and SDRF have secured over 1100 passengers. More than 5 thousand passengers were stopped in Sonprayag. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Dehradun, Tehri, Champawat and Pithoragarh.
