Monsoon Arriving: The monsoon in the country is going to knock in the next 24 hours. The monsoon stopped from 40 to 50 km from the last 4 days moved forward on Friday (May 23, 2025). Heavy rains predict in south states
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rains on Saturday (May 24, 2025) at the southern states of Kerala, coastal and south interior Karnataka as well as Konkan and different places in Konkan and Goa. Kerala and coastal Karnataka are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rains till May 29, as well as strong winds at a speed of 40-50 kmph. The Meteorological Department said that in the next five days, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will also splatter with sporadic rains and thunderstorms.
There will be rain in Maharashtra
Apart from this, the Meteorological Department issued a red alert on Friday afternoon, predicting heavy rains in the coastal districts of Maharashtra. According to the weather reports, there may be thunderstorms in Mumbai, lightning may shine, light to moderate rain may occur and winds may blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph in different areas.
Red Alert for Goa
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Goa, which has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall till Sunday. The state government has requested people to stay away from rivers and waterfalls as a precaution. Many parts of the coastal state received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours.
When will it rain in Delhi
Meanwhile, according to the IMD update released at 5:40 am on Friday morning, light rains are likely in the next two hours in parts of South Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR). Orange alert has also been issued for Delhi-NCR, in which strong winds are likely to blow at a speed of 70 kmph.

The general date for the arrival of monsoon in Kerala is June 1. However, in 1918 it arrived first on 11 May. On the other hand, the most delayed monsoon rains began on 18 June in 1972. The most delayed monsoon entry in the last 25 years was in 2016, when he reached Kerala on 9 June.
